  Tour in Baku
  Cultural Tour (3 days)

Azerbaijan is the country of ancient history and culture. Here is more than 6 thousand historical-architectural monuments. It is a lot of centuries back present region served as a crossroads of trading ways from Asia to the Europe, was a key part of caravan routes. Already then numerous merchants, travelers, ambassadors, historians, ethnographers marked interesting historical-architectural monuments.

Day 1   City of Baku
Meeting at the airport. Check-in at the hotel. Start of excursion in Old Town - "Icheri Sheher". See the highlights of Icheri Sheher including the Palace of the Shirvans (the most striking example of the Medieval palace structures in Azerbaijan, dating to the middle of 15th century); the Maiden's Tower (the ancient, eight storey fortress originally built as a fire beacon); visit Dzhuma Mosque, shops of antiques and carpets, and the Carpet Museum (the impressive building located on the seafront)
Sightseeing tour in the city: Martyr's Cemetery, located on the higher slopes of the city's west-end, this is the best place for viewing the city and the Bay of Baku. You will have a walk in Naberezhny park (Boulevard) - the second largest one in the Europe. On Boulevard you can get a boat and make 30 minutes trip on it along Baku Bay of the Caspian sea - largest lake in the world. Return to the hotel.
Day 2   Absheron Peninsula
Leaving for a tour in Absheron peninsula. The second day will be spent primarily within the Greater Baku, where you will be taken to main sites on the Absheron Peninsula. You will pay a visit to Ateshgah - the Fire Worshippers' Temple located in the village of Surakhany. It was built on land where natural gas burned eternally by Zoroastrian believers who travelled from the province of Multan in India to worship. These ancient fires are believed to have given Azerbaijan its name, which is thought by some researchers to mean the 'Land of Fires'.

This day you will visit the Gobustan reserve. Gobustan is an open-air museum littered with neolithic rock drawings. Just 65km (40miles) south of Baku, Gobustan has some 4000 inscriptions that go back 12,000 years (with some 2000 year old Latin graffiti to boot). Stone Age folks sporting loin cloths pose hunt and boogie down. Their dances are thought to have been accompanied by the melodious strains of the Gaval-Dashy (Tambourine Stone) - a rock that has a deep, resonating tone when struck. There are paintings or etchings (petroglyphs) of what appear to be long boats in the style of the Viking ships of more recent times. Famous Norwegian researcher Thor Heyerdahl was convinced that people from the area went to Scandinavia in about 100 AD and took their boat building skills with them, and transmuted them into the viking boats we know from digs in Northern Europe. Besides being famous for the petroglyphs the Gobustan are also has some amazing landscape, particularly an area filled with mud volcanoes (about 7km south of Gobustan), which provide a quasi-lunar horizon.
Back to the hotel, free time.
Day 3   Baku / Departure
Walk in the city centre. Pay a visit to Baku high street – Torgovaya avenue and Fountain Square and get acquainted with city architecture. At the end of the 19th century Azerbaijan was responsible for more than half of the world's oil production, and Baku was rolling in money. Between 1885 and 1915 hundreds of luxurious mansions were built by entrepreneurs and oil barons who had grown wealthy almost overnight. The architecture they created displays a unique and exuberant blend of European and Oriental influences, in which neoclassical, Renaissance, Gothic and Art Nouveau styles merge with Persian, Egyptian, Ot¬toman and Moorish designs.

Next stop will be The Museum of Carpets & Applied Art (the impressive building located on the seafront - its collection was enriched with the carpets brought from Shusha Carpet Museum, evacuated before the Armenian advance). The Museum posses one of the best collections of local and Persian carpets which will be presented to your attention. It has a brilliant display of woven and knotted Azerbaijani carpets, plus jewellery, embroidery, metalwork and carved wood. . The oldest carpet is dated from XVII century. Here, you not only can get acquainted with the types of carpets but also can weave your first little carpet

Transfer to Yanar Dagh. Yanar Dagh is a mountain that has been continuously on fire for one thousand years. The natural gas vents ensure that hot flames roar out of the sides of this hill even when it rains. There is a small cafe next to the natural wonder that serves tea and snacks.
