Kazbegi is a place in the
Georgian Caucasus you should
definitely visit. It is your
gateway for everything mountains
have to offer. Mount Kazbegi is
a dormant strato-volcano and one
of the chief mountains of the
Caucasus. It is the third
highest mountain in Georgia and
the seventh highest peak in the
Caucasus Mountains. The name in
Georgian is Mkinvari, which
translates to "glacier" or "ice
mountain". Mount Kazbegi is
associated in Georgian folklore
with Amirani, the Georgian
version of Prometheus, who was
chained on the mountain in
punishment for having stole fire
from the gods and having given
it to mortals.
In this tour you will have to be
chained in one rope with the
professional Alpinists.

Notes: |
|
|
• We
have to take the reserve day(s) (days: 6, 7) in Meteo-station in case of bad
weather conditions and if we use them, we’ll have our trek in the morning of the
8th day.
• Overnight stay in the Bethlemi Hut (meteorological station). Living conditions
at the high altitude meteorological station (3750 m.) are Spartan. We sleep on
wooden bunk beds, and dine in a heated and lit communal area.
• You will have to bring your own sleeping bags, ascenders (Jumars), all
trekking and alpine equipment, clothes and tents. Ropes will be provided here.
• Climate: There are frequently strong winds on Mt. Kazbegi. Better to have a
protective face masks. It’s necessary to be in good physical fitness, because of
the high altitude.
• Technical skills: Basic experience in moving on snow and ice is required.
• Food: Company will take care of all culinary matters. You have to take no meal
with you (besides your own favorite stuff). |
